Let's catch up on what's been going on in our class this week.
Monday: Love was all around as we celebrated Valentine's Day. We went down to Ruth Ann's room for our Valentine Exchange. Thanks to everyone for sending in valentines. I hope you enjoyed working on them with your children. You should've seen the pride in their faces as they handed them out. Since reading is still a bit tricky for us, Ruth Ann's kids buddied up with mine and helped them find the correct bag to put their valentine in. The children also got some sweets to enjoy. Kris, in Ruth Ann's class, brought in a huge box of chocolates and shared them with everyone. Ashlynn also brought in cookies and shared them with everyone. Thanks so much for those wonderful treats! I'm working on getting pictures uploaded to the new-to-me-computer, so they'll be up soon. :)
Tuesday: On Tuesdays, I really don't get much teaching time with the children, but we did have time to sneak in some Literacy before our enrichment classes began. We practiced writing our names. Some of us are working on our last names now. Our attendance magnets (part of morning meeting) now have first and last names on them. Don't be surprised if you hear your child say their last name or the last name of a classmate. They're catching on quick!
Wednesday: I am so proud of your children! We had a visitor this morning and the class was so wonderful and sweet to him. Not that our class isn't normally wonderful and sweet, but having a new person in the room can make us shy and bashful. Before he arrived, we talked about how it feels to be the new person in a group and how we'd want to be treated. The children decided they'd all be welcoming and helpful to their new friend. That they were! We read Love, Splat by Robert Scotton.
We then read The Jacket I wear in the Snow by Shirley Neitzel. We then journaled about the jacket we wear in the snow.
Later this morning, the children had Early Learner music class with Kim.
Dont' forget to go sign up for BAKING DAY! Have questions?? Let me know! I'm the girl to ask. :)
