One Fish Two Fish and a Birthday too!

Good afternoon everyone! We had a great morning kicking off our Dr. Seuss unit. I first read Happy Birthday to You! by Dr. Seuss. Today is a very special 4th birthday for one of our classmates. Afterwards, we read One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss. We then made patterns with red fish and blue fish from the story. The children made AB patterns (red, blue, red, blue, red, blue). They're posted on our window so stop by for a look!
Later this morning, our birthday girl's mother came in for a surprise birthday celebration. We sang, had cake, and even had our faces painted! Some children chose to have their hands painted instead. Our birthday girl's mom wrapped up the celebration by reading another Dr. Seuss book! She read Green Eggs and Ham. The children did a great job "helping" her read by filling in the ending rhyming words to a sentence. For example, she read "I do not like them in a box. I do not like them with a ____".  Pictures from this morning are posted to the right.

We didn't let the rain ruin our fun! We had recess inside today and listened to a few Dr. Seuss stories in the background. The children also had music class this morning with Kim.
